TP4056 Micro USB 5V 1A Lithium Battery Charger
Review: 5 - "A masterpiece of literature" by , written on May 4, 2006
I really enjoyed this book. It captures the essential challenge people face as they try make sense of their lives and grow to adulthood.

This module allows you to charge your lithium ion battery using a Micro USB charging cable

An on board TP4056 chip handles the charging and discharging of the battery and allows you to easily integrate a Lithium Ion battery into your projects and two onboard LEDs provide charging status information

The module can either be powered from the onboard Micro USB connector or by using the positive and negative pads. You should connect a power source of at least 1A to ensure the charger operates correctly.

You can connect two lithium battery cells in parallel to form an equivalent single cell battery. We do not recommend connecting more than 2 cells in parallel to this module

This module includes the following battery protections:

  • Overdischarge protection
  • Overcharge protection
  • Overcurrent and short circuit protection
  • Soft start inrush protection
Warning
Extra care must be taken when two cells are connected in parallel. Both cells must be at the same voltage level. If one cell has a lower voltage than the companion cell the higher voltage cell will discharge into the lower voltage cell in an attempt to bring the two cells to the same voltage. If the voltages of the two cells differ enough the resulting current through both cells can be high enough to cause the cells to overheat or explode

Lithium Ion batteries can be volatile when not handled and designed carefully. Never leave lithium ion batteries charging or discharging unnatended

Change Charging Voltage

The module allows you to modify the charge voltage by changing the R3 resistor (Refer to pinout guide for location of R3 resistor).
The table below taken from the TP4056 Datasheet can be used to determine which resitors can be used to change the charging rate
