Kobee Filament.
Quality Filament without breaking the bank

The Kobee Difference.

Tangle free printing

Uniform Winding

Kobee filament uses a proprietry spooling system to ensure each spool is uniformly wound.

"Why's that so important" do we hear you asking?

Well, other than it just looking great, uniform winding ensures that the filament comes off the spool smoothly avoiding snags and reducing tension which all leads smoother, more consistent printing

Solid Colours

We know how important deep, solid colours are to the 3D printing community

"Ok So whats the issue?" Well... when using standard pigments, the amounts required to get vibrant, solid colours would result in brittle filament and increase the chances of printer clogging

So when designing Kobee PLA+ we made sure to source a premium pigment that provides super solid vibrant colours without all the negatives

Keep it Stuck

Improved Layer Adhesion

Every avid printer has had their fair share of adhesion problems and it can suck

When we were designing Kobee PLA, layer to layer and bed adhesion were high on the lists of must haves

We dont guarantee adhesion 100% of the time (Your print set up and conditions plays a huge role in that too) we do know Kobee PLA is going to give you one heck of a chance in the fight for successful prints

FAQ.

Kobee PLA is a PLA based 3D printing filament designed to be very easy to print and made from biodegradeable and non toxic materials (Corn).

PLA is a great material to print with because it has very minimal warping and is very easy to print, heated envclosures not neccessary!

The short answer - Yes. If your printer is capable of printing with 1.75mm PLA then your printer is going to print Kobee PLA.

We recommend printers with heated beds although you can still succesfully print with non heated beds by using blue painters tape or other bed adhesives

PLA Can be printed as low as 190°C. We recommend printing between 200°C and 220°C although you can go slightly hotter or colder if desired

You know your printer better than anyone. Don't let us tell you what to do

Every 3D printer is different and every print temperature is different although we recommend and have had best results with heated bed temperatures of between 55°C and 80°C

Don't have a heated bed I hear you say? No problem, you can just go ahead and use the bed adhesion methods your already using. Some examples are blue painters tape, Glue sticks, hair spray or commercially available bed adhesives

With a direct drive extruder we recommend a retraction distance of 1mm with a retraction speed of 20mm/s

If you're using a bowden extruder we recommend a retraction distance of 3mm and retraction speed of 40mm/s

All setups are different though and we recommend a few small test prints to get the right ectraction settings for your 3D printer. (The default ones in Cura or other slicers are going to be pretty much there)

Kobee PLA can be printed at a wide range of speeds. We recommend between 30mm/s - 70 mm/s.

However, when we're in a rush we find the printing speed can be above 70mm/s, even 140mm/s on some printers! Make sure your cooling fans on high and assess your printers capabilities

Kobee PLA was designed from the ground up to be a great quality, pick up and print PLA filament

Our filaments are one of the very few on the market that are neatly wound which reduced tangles and printing issues plus Solid colours, 0.02mm tolerance and all for one of the most competitive prices on the market

We've historically supplied out filaments exclusively to schools and business and are now able to bring it to the Australian market

The main ingredient is... PLA. (Obviously) To be exact Kobee PLA is made from World leading Total Corbion (Luminy) LX575 PLA. The total Corbion LX575 PLA has a higher temperature resistance which improves the overall strength of your 3D printed par

If you're a bit of a nerd feel free to browse the Material Data Sheet

Our Kobee PLA is made with non toxic and non harmful food grade materials.

However, printed parts are made up of multiple layers which have micro "cracks" or gaps invisible to the human eye. Because of the enevitible gaps in 3D printing, Bacteria is prone to grow in these spaces which are hard to clean and sanitise and as such we dont recommend using printed parts in food contact applications

Mhm. It really is! PLA is made up of corn afterall! Unfortunately it'll take a long time if you just throw it in the ground and we dont think your worms will appreciate how hard it is

Although, under specific conditions of indiustrial comosting similar to typical council / count composting facilities (Ie. Certain temperatures and humidity) PLA will degrade. The rate of degredation will depend on the conditions and the size and thickness of the printed parts

*Check with your local composting centre before placing PLA items in your green bin, they may not like it just yet 🙁

Due to crystallinity changes of the PLA during printing, printed parts from Kobee PLA can withstand temperatures up to 60°C

Any glues that are capable of gluing any other PLA will be able oyo glue Kobee PLA. We recommend Cyanoacrylate glue (Superglue) because it dries strong and is the least noticeable of all the glues we tested

Other glues that will work but may be more noticeable are Hot glue, Plumbers Cement and Epoxy

Acetone gluing or acetone smoothing does not work on PLA filaments
